Although timber homes have been around for centuries, we have developed and patented a modular method of construction for log and cedar homes which are the best available in Australia. And judging by our success overseas in Malaysia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and New Caledonia, the best quality product anywhere!
Thermopanel’s log and cedar homes use a factory manufactured wall module [standard size being 1200 x 2400mm] which is load-bearing. Once erected, the modules carry the roof loads. Double-storey and loft-style homes are just as easily accommodated. These wall modules are unique and are patented. The triple layer walls, the outside being machine finished CCA treated pine logs, the centre is closed cell CFC-free Polyurethane Foam making the most effective barrier to air and water. The inside wall facing – once plumbing and wiring have been installed – is plasterboard or tonge-and-groove pine linings.
The thermal properties of Polyurethane are the best of any known material. We hold the highest thermal rating of any wall system currently available in Australia – Rating 3.5.
Cedar Joinery. We manufacture our own quality joinery for external windows and doors. Select knot free, first-grade Western Red Cedar is used and all units are glazed to Building Codes, are load bearing and sanded ready for your clear finishing. Aluminium windows are also available in various powdercoat colours.
The system of construction is simple. May be tackled by handy persons with basic skills and is ideal in remote areas where trades people are not available. Once the floor is down, a 12-square home can be erected to wall-top stage using four people in about seven hours. Lock-up stage is normally achieved in five days.
Kits can be supplied as just modules and windows, to lock up stage, or complete. Quotations are free. Building plan drawings and material schedule for simple once-off buildings, including details required by Council are $900. More complicated/larger buildings and loft homes full drawings and costings would be $1200.
